The Gyro Melt is a delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring the flavors of a chicken gyro. It's a perfect combination of crispy bread, savory chicken, melty cheese, and refreshing Mediterranean-inspired toppings.
Ingredients: 2 slices of sourdough bread. 2 tablespoons butter. 1 cup cooked chicken gyro meat, sliced. 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese. 1/4 cup diced tomatoes. 1/4 cup diced cucumbers. 1/4 cup diced red onions. 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce. 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in a heated skillet over medium heat. Layer the sliced chicken gyro meat on top of the bread in the skillet. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the chicken gyro meat. Add diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions on top of the cheese. Drizzle tzatziki sauce over the vegetables and sprinkle with dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Place the second slice of sourdough bread, buttered side up, on top to form a sandwich. Cook the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Remove from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice it in half diagonally. Serve hot, and enjoy your Chicken Gyro Grilled Cheese!
