With how easy it is to share and obtain media today, it has also opened up doors for plagiarism, allowing people to “steal” someone else’s creative works. This problem is rampant and can be observed anywhere especially in social media, particularly social media pages that repost someone else’s works, putting “ctto” into the post description. For me, this form of acknowledgment isn’t enough and hurts content creators in a way that they may be discouraged to create more content.

Today ICTs makes it easier to reproduce and distribute media files, but it also brought along online piracy. Online piracy is the act of reproducing media content without authorization, examples of these are downloading copyrighted material. Online piracy hurts intellectual property owners through reducing their income.

When media evolved, news media integrated and improved as well, bringing news to everyone that has access to it. But it also made it far easier to manipulate the masses, the more people news media has coverage to, the more people they can deceive.

Having a social media account, using a digital platform, or creating any online content makes you a netizen. As netizens, we should partake in online communities we meet ethically and respectfully. Just like in the real world, we must behave accordingly and follow a set of rules, on the Internet, it is essential to follow Internet Etiquettes, also known as Netiquettes.

The invention of social networking revolutionized the world, it has allowed people all over the world to meet and socialize in a virtual setting. But this has also caused consequences. Consequences like Data and Identify theft, Misinformation, Privacy breaches, and more. All of these can be prevented by being socially responsible.

What exactly is a gadget?

Gadgets often called gizmos, are defined as “an often small mechanical or electronic device with a practical use but often thought of as a novelty” Some examples of these gadgets are Headphones, Routers, Digital Cameras, and of course Smartphones.

But Why?

Out of all the gadgets, why is it that the Smartphone is my favorite one? Well because its functionality and uses make other gadgets less impressive by comparison. The phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” perfectly captures the essence of a smartphone, due to the fact that it combines the functionality of a telephone, camera, music player, calendar, personal digital assistant, and more into one device.

Other gadgets focus and specialize in certain fields/areas while the smartphone focuses on almost all areas albeit not as specialized as others. It serves as our personal assistant in our daily lives, got something to search for? want to listen to music? need to call or message someone? the smartphone’s got it all covered.

In the video, when Gotye reminisces his old relationship, the lines first appear, then the colors around the background, then unto Gotye, seamlessly making him blend into the background. This is to represent that he still lives in the past, in his dysfunctional relationship. After a while, Kimbra shows up, with lines and colors on her body except for her face. She shows her side of the relationship, then the lines and paint slowly vanish from her body, symbolizing her leaving this dysfunctional relationship. In the end, Gotye is the only one with lines and paint.

Media literacy focuses on the exercises that allow people to access, critically assess, and create or manipulate media. It is the ability to approach, analyze, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of communication. Media literacy is necessary for educational success, effectively working, and contributing to the community
