Gentle surgery but it's a watchmaker and he's meticulously making sure everything is perfect inside the watch he's making and he's aligning all the gears and then he kisses the finished masterpiece at the end

You know what I want? I want a nice mechanical watch. Not quartz, no electricity, just gears and clockwork. Nothing super fancy, I don't need multiple dials for months and days and dates and phases of the moon or whatever, just three hands. Hell, I'd settle for two; minutes and hours. I want something with heft, something that ticks. Mechanical watches tend to lose time, a few seconds to a few minutes pet month, and you have to wind them every couple of days so they don't stop, but that's part of the appeal. It's about the engineering, not the convenience. Nobody "needs" a watch anymore, not when they have smartphones which are synchronized to atomic clocks, but I still want one. I'd never drop multiple grand for a Rolex, but a few hundred dollars for a low end Seiko, that's something I could afford. I'll save up for one, make it a Christmas present to myself.
