shep and kaidan have the stupidest relationship arc ever. i can't even pretend i made it up because the way it plays out in canon is perfect.
kaidan, operating under the assumption that he is more-or-less a straight man, has been assigned to the Normandy for a while now. this commander is straightforward, to-the-point, and has little to no inflection to his speech or body language. his mood is hard to read at a glance, but he never hesitates to speak his mind.
everyone who is anyone knows about his impressive military record - not to mention the mission details from that infamous siege on Torfan.
i think they know each other for about a month from the events of ME1 to the ME2 opening, then are SEPARATED for OVER THREE YEARS, kaidan is in and out of his life during that shit with cerberus, THEN they finally kiss. in the MIDDLE OF THE FINAL GAME!?
this is the canon timeline because it makes me giggle how long it took to get in kaidans pants. THE SLOW BURN TO END ALL SLOW BURNS... though currently i am re-playing to see the restored kaidan romance for ME1. and to get my missing achievementz.
Shepard: Colony was raided and only got away because the batarians missed them, spent all of Akuze playing hide and seek with thresher maws, Captain of the most hidden ship in the galaxy, built their own cloaking field.
Dr. Chambers: Commander, you may have a complex of some kind.

I can't get over the fact that the illusive man would say "his file (kaidan's) is well classified." Like.... God, imagine having all the resources of cerberus and you still can't access the file of this one dude who is considered "boring" and "average", "bland" and then you see that his history is classified because he's canonically one badass mfer who killed his bully of a teacher while he was a teenager.
Like, fuck, my love for kaidan really just grew by a bajillion percent when the first time I heard that line. 🥹
Shepard really has a weakness for bad boys and it's kaidan motherfucking alenko. 😭🥰❤️
Not to mention he would straight up square up to Shepard in ME3. Like, hello, yes, that's my man right there. 😩🤤
