I posted the first fic of my new Holmes series, The Shenanigans of Sherlock Holmes, which will hopefully consist of a Johnlock-themed story related to the events of each original story from the canon. I have a partner for this endeavor (SirArthurKittenDoyle on AO3), which is very exciting for me - I'm always looking for other people to share in my madness, lol.
"Bantamweight" is my fic for Sign of Four and is about an intimate encounter between Holmes and former prize-fighter McMurdo and is just straight-up smut. The idea of Cambridge-years Holmes with a burly, middle-aged boxer just got me all kinds of stirred up, what can I say?
In spite of my enthusiasm for the imagery my mind's eye was seeing, however, it was embarrassingly difficult to write Holmes having an intimate interaction with anyone other Watson. It felt like I was doing something wrong to my favorite character or forcing him to sleep with this strange man against his will (I told you it was embarrassing), so I made the interaction as tender and sweet as I could reasonably make this type of casual, virtually anonymous encounter.
I feel very vulnerable putting this story out there because it felt so different to write, but I know that it's good to push myself outside of my comfort zone to grow as a writer, so I did it anyway and here it is. I hope you like it. Thanks for reading :)

There is a terrible secret in Antarctica, lurking in every corridor, which consumes all who cross its path. It’s nothing to do with conspiracy theories, cosmic abominations, or shadowy government operations. It’s … THE CRUD.
There’s a return to the long-neglected Antarctic Blog, with my writeup of that seminal McMurdo Experience, having a head full of crème pâtissière.

Less than 500' from the front door of Scott Base and this was the shot I had been waiting for.
