Industrial designer McKay Nilson (@mckay.nilson) envisions what an Apple-design coffee machine might look like in this #conceptdesign #sketchbook #drawing by blending the designs of the Homepod, iMac Pro, and Apple's new campus. • The futuristic design is really cool, though I’m not sure I would trust myself to pour in the water necessary to brew the coffee so close to my $5,999 iMac Pro (see price tag in pic)... • I love how industrial design drawings are equal parts sketch, illustration, and diagram. They focus just as much on how an object FUNCTIONS as how it LOOKS. Design is obviously key (which McKay is obviously skilled at), but he also gives us some great “under the hood” diagrams about how parts might spin or close or lift out of place with illustrative arrows, and shows some cool exploded view detailing how the parts are pieces together.
