If you happen to look up at the sky just after dusk on Sunday, you’ll see something that only happens once in a blue moon — literally. That’s because the month’s second full moon, which is known as a blue moon, will be visible then. If you recall, May’s full flower moon occurred on May 1 this year, allowing us this month’s rare BOGO full moon opportunity. We won’t see another calendrical blue moon until December 2028!
Some Tips: While Sunday is the date of the full moon, it will also appear full to the human eye on Saturday night. This moon will be extra special because it's also what astronomers call a "micromoon," which occurs when the moon reaches its farthest point from Earth in its monthly orbit, about 252,000 miles away. Though it will technically appear about 6% smaller than usual, you're unlikely to notice the difference with the naked eye. In fact, since this full moon will hang low in the southern sky, it might actually appear larger than normal due to an optical illusion that makes low-hanging moons look enormous!
The Flower Moon reaches peak brightness on May 1.
Named for the wildflowers that bloom across North America this time of year, it’s one of spring’s most iconic full moons.

Near Full Blood Supermoon 🌖🔴
It was so bright and I'd hate the thought of not getting such a clear night when it peaks tomorrow....

The Moon in Scorpio brings a need for deep introspection. As the long era of social distancing continues to drag on, you will crave meaningful and emotional exhcanges. Take the time to reach out and make new lasting connections, or strengthen the ones that you already have. But be aware that these connections should be pursued for their emotional depth, rather than their shallow benefits.
