Chat what if Martyn's wish is just to see his family again to say a proper goodbye?
I mean, Martyn did imply he had to walk for 100 years to cross over to the Underworld which in Greek culture apparently means that he wasn't given a proper burial in life.
So that implies his body wasn't found or wasn't able to be taken to be given a proper burial....
There's no way he would wish for a second chance in life nor others when he firmly believes that "The Dead should Stay Dead" and applies it to himself with his acceptance of having to walk the full 100 years and not minding the idea of Charon bringing him back to the Underworld despite still having two coins left to continue on with the challenge
Martyn
The man who wanted to survive in order to find a true home
The man who others will never truly know
Apokuna
The woman who wanted to survive in order to go back home
The woman others will never know who truly drove them
So, am I the only one thinking about how Bubbles commented that "He can't even run on all fours anymore" or are you normal?
I'm really curious if this is a lore crumb Martyn purposefully gave since he did say previously that he was giving some lore in the background or if this was just a usual improv'd line
What if Bubbles really WAS just a regular cat that got kidnapped and experimented on because noone could find whoever the Cat Mage's successor was and they NEED a Cat Mage successor after they've shown to be able to push back The Corruption with their magic.
They needed all hands on deck and thus, he was made a Mage

It's funny how Bubbles end up as... well, having "Bubbles" as her student-given name
Bubbles, a fleeting thing with the substance of nothing. Merely a flimsy sphere of water and soap particles destined to disappear and be temporary.
Yes, they may give a quick sense of joy, but in the end, it'll disappear until you make more.
It has no mind, no voice, nothing but a silent pop. You forget it even existed until it decides to reappear.
Truly, Bubbles is one of those things that slip through the cracks and minds of others
After all, it is nothing.
My personal relationship chart for pan!Martyn/Nobody based on Ep1 :P
(I need more content to form more opinions about his relationship with other characters)
Imagine if Appletree Duo were the Starting Vampires but they're sort of the inverse of Scott and Owen
Centuries in the past, there lived a wandering peasant named Martyn who stumbles upon a castle away from a village that seems apprehensive. It was there he encountered the Vampire Lord of this land and was forcibly turned against his will to carry out their evil deeds lest he starves.
He's nothing but a peasant after all, with no family or friends to speak of. He's easily replaceable.
So Martyn forces his head down and obeys for as long as he could before he remembers the folktales whispered in winds and written in books, finding a good time to strike before he stakes the person who cursed him with this life.
But... ah....... He was stronger like this wasn't he? He was no longer the weak man, the foolish man, the useless man. He can use his own claws now to take what is his now.
This castle, this village, it was his to claim when he had slain the Vampire Lord and rightfully taken his place.
They're under new management now and well.... If there's one thing he learned in his unlife, you either pay with your death or with something else. And you'll rather sacrifice cattle than be it yourself right?
Of course, like Scott Goldsmith, he's eventually put to a magical rest and buried in his own coffin and crypt.
But when he wakes? He's not foolish enough to grant anyone this gift of unimaginable strength and immortality. After all, vampires can easily kill other vampires, he would not want his claim to be threatened. But humans? Humans don't stand a chance against him.
A few centuries after Martyn was put to rest, Apo was still sent into the military and forced to battle. It was there that she was turned into a vampire when they scouted too far ahead and the military used their newfound vampirism to their advantage and made her their own weapon.
Apo got sick of fighting and killing and all the blood in their hands and they run away with Cherri into Oakhurst to lay low and live the rest of their lives as peacefully as they can.
Cherri helps Apo get the meat and blood she needs to stay satiated without arousing suspecion on her partner. But the village grew wary of Cherri because of her frequent requests and while Apo was out of town to buy Cherri supplies for her hobbies, Cherri was burned at the stake for being incorrectly thought of as the vampire.
Seeing the brutal murder of their partner once they returned, Apo wrecked havoc in Oakhurst in her grief before burying themself fruitlessly to rejoin Cherri on the other side, not knowing that getting staked by another person could've permanently killed them so she could truly reunite with her beloved Cherri in the afterlife.
She values and cares about humanity so much. Yet why do humans keep killing each other for no reason? Why do they let fear and hatred overtake them?
....well, if humanity is so willing to throw away the lives of others in a futile attempt to lengthen their own mortality, why not give it to them? Why not give them the immortality they so crave so they can see how fruitless hurting other people is?
You can't kill others if both of you are immortal. And they deserve to feel what it's like to be forced to live forever while everyone else they love rots around them.
They won't be alone in this grief.
