Le Fort I Maxillary Osteotomy This teenaged girl had a protruding upper jaw. Medical terminology for this is maxillary prognathism. She could not close her mouth fully because of this. A Le Fort I maxillary osteotomy with superior positioning was performed in our hospital. She also underwent presurgical orthodontics for decompensation of her maxillary arch. The surgery resulted in correction of her complaints and she had good lip competency following the surgery.
