Hey guys please explain to me why yall think max is suicidaI all of a sudden because you never said this before season 3 and yes max was having a hard time there but so did Ginny and Abby in season 2 and yall didn’t say that when they gone thru the exact same thing ?
I need to let this out because Its like 2 AM and IDK if my brain is braining but hear me out everyone called max selfish before right because well she was. But what if it was unintentional now I know how that sounds but hear me out max who most likely has undiagnosed ADHD and has been masking a lot and once she learned one way of masking that she found "worked" she stuck with it. She made herself seem self centered and confident and over-dramatic to hide herself in a way and then when no one commented on it she thought oh this is working and ya know just kept up with it Honestly if I posted this at any other time it would make sense so I'm really sorry for that but my brain got motivation to post so I did maybe I will do something more in depth after I do my 10 rewatch yeah I'm normal about this show haha anyway thanks for reading good day/night yall!
I blog for the girls who act like they got their shit together to be there for people who need stability
Maxine baker, you will never not be the most relatable character in my life.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the fandom is that Max was always a great friend who was simply betrayed by everyone around her for "no reason" at all, it isn't true or factual. While Max is caring, loyal, and deeply loves the people in her life, she is also capable of being a selfish, controlling, and hurtful friend. The show intentionally gives her these flaws, and ignoring them oversimplifies her character.
Perhaps the clearest example is how she handled Ginny and Marcus's relationship. Max had every right to feel hurt that they kept it a secret, but instead of expressing that hurt in a healthy way, she froze out not only Ginny, but also Abby. She refused to hear anyone out, expected everyone to wait until she was ready to forgive them, and made the conflict last far longer than it needed to. Her pain was understandable, but the way she punished everyone around her was not!!
Max also put Norah in an unfair position by expecting her loyalty to mean distancing herself from Ginny and Abby. Rather than allowing her friends to maintain separate relationships, Max often acted as though spending time with them was a betrayal. That kind of emotional pressure creates an unhealthy dynamic where one person's feelings dictate the entire friend group. Yet poor Norah get also hated on for that.
Her treatment of Abby is another example that often gets overlooked. Throughout the series, Max makes dismissive comments about Abby, talks negatively about her behind her back, and frequently overlooks the fact that Abby is clearly struggling emotionally. While Abby is dealing with her parents' divorce, body image issues, and feelings of isolation, Max often dismisses her or redirects the attention back to herself instead of recognizing that her friend needs support. Not to mentioned that Abby and her were really close and then come Ginny and changes everything.
Max also judges Ginny harshly after learning about Marcus. Rather than focusing solely on the broken trust, she directs personal insults and judgment toward Ginny, with comments that carry clear slut-shaming undertones. Her reaction becomes about humiliating Ginny rather than simply addressing the betrayal she felt.
None of this makes Max a bad person though since she is still a child herself. It makes her a flawed teenager who often lets her emotions control how she treats others. She eventually grows, reflects, and apologizes, which is part of what makes her such a compelling character and character that I love sometimes. However, it's important to acknowledge that she wasn't always the good friend some fans remember her as. Just as Ginny, Abby, and the other characters are held accountable for their mistakes, Max's actions deserve the same level of honesty and nuance. Max isn't the better friends, they all have their moments of being both a great friend or a terrible one and Max isn't the exception at all. No, Ginny is not the worse, selfish or a bad friend nor are the others for how they reacted in season 3 with her.
My mom dislikes Max Baker. How do I tell her that’s literally me
“We need more complex characters!” Y’all couldn’t even handle Maxine Baker
