Goosemav Headcanons:

Maverick used to have a smoking problem, he stopped because Goose was a little bit of a health nut back in highschool.

Very few people knew Goose was called goose before they had callsigns. Mav used to kind of sort of bully him when they were younger. He'd call him chicken, duck, and one day, when he was fussing over something very very small, mav just started calling him goose. And it stuck (much to Nick's chagrin but eventual acceptance.) he's been mav's goose longer than he's been anyone's Nick.

They get drunk and play Gay Chicken so often that it genuinely pisses other people off. No one wants to walk into the common room and see these two slow dancing to Paul Anka, bickering about which one of them is the girl in this dance. Goose relents, because Goose always does, when it's Mav.

Goose thinks Mav's stupid reckless devil-may-care way of driving his bike is very very stupidly attractive. He's his RIO forever, though. He delights in grabbing his waist from behind.

Goose used to have stubble, a kind of goatee that he only got rid of because Mav complained about beardburn. The moustache survived, though.

When Goose is in a coma after the crash (because he is in a coma after the crash), Carole and Bradley are the only family Maverick has left. He doesn't let go of Goose's hand that first week.
