look i genuinely try to hear people out when it comes to stuff about content creators. but when it gets to the point of unironically calling matpat a homophobic capitalist bootlicker because he made a video about chick-fil-a.... any valid point you had just disintigrates immediately. like i would LOVE for you to show me some real evidence hes a pos so i can stop thinking about him 24/7, but, alas. everything is either almost as old as i am or just absolute bullshit. the biggest reaches imaginable.

if he hadn't shown overt support for the queer community, i'd understand. but he has. he doesn't make a show out of it, but multiple times he's spoken about how he personally, in real life, where it MATTERS, supports his local queer community and his queer friends. i think you need to reassess your priorities if you're so hateful that you need to dig up the smallest, tiniest fragments of a controversy and then blow that up into something its not. its actually quite depressing

MatPat is from what I've seen a very nice person but part of me feels like Game Theory and Film Theory by extension have irreparably damaged the way people interact with media because now people seem to be less interested in enjoying something and moreso in dictating how it ends in some bizarre exercise in proving themselves smarter than everyone else. It can't just be me who feels that right.
Like. Theorycrafting is a normal thing, everyone does it, but it's mutated from sharing your thoughts with other people into a dick measuring contest on who's more "right," to the point where if the story doesn't go in the direction they thought it would go they're physically unable to even appreciate it anymore, it's the worst thing in the world because it's not exactly what they wanted it to be, it was made bad on purpose to spite them specifically et cetera. The fan/creator relationship has degraded into a customer/server one and I feel like it all started with that elf who overanalyzes the very hungry caterpillar.
