i always thought he was cool. it was one thing for L to set up a broadcast to talk to his heirs, but he did it for everyone. one second you're a ten year old kid bored out of your mind, the next you're hearing the greatest detective in the world talk to you directly. it totally blew my mind.

when the whole successorship program started up i honestly wasn't all that interested. i liked the guy, but it wasn't like i felt i had to be him, y'know? but mells was interested and he ended up convincing me to try to get myself a spot because he was pissed being stuck with near. we managed to contact L and write up some shitty fake email from mr wammy that i'm sure was complete and utter bullshit, but he actually gave me a shot. looking back it was probably more about me being able to figure out how to bypass his security and less about the letter of recommendation. that made me respect him a lot i think, he didn't care about all the procedural bs involved in everything, he just saw i had talent so he gave me a chance. i don't think anyone else at the house was too into that idea, but it's not like they could just ignore L's wishes, y'know?

anyway, i never got to meet him, but from what little communication i had with the guy, he seemed pretty cool. everyone already knows, but he really was a fucking genius. there's some other shit i could get into but i wanna respect the guy's memory so i'm not keen on exposing his secrets.
