How do people genuinely understand math? Like sure simple addition and subtracting is fine, because it's simple and easy, but multiplication and division is hard, like my stupid human brain cannot comprehend the complexity of math, like I love literature, I love complex things, I love being somewhat smart, but the second it comes to math? Here's a fun trick to play on your brain:
Imagine one square meter. If you add up the length of its sides, you would have a total perimeter of 4 meters. Because 1 is smaller than 4, it "seems" like the perimeter is bigger than the area.
But if you measure that same space in centimeters, the perimeter is now 400 centimeters long, while the area is 10,000 square centimeters. 400 feels a lot smaller than 10,000, right? Suddenly the perimeter "feels" smaller than the area!
Weird, huh?
i hate school math is propaganda
