Critical yet caring
Lackadaisy fans have been freaking out about Viktor and Mordecai wearing matching suits to the Lackadaisy New years party of 1926 for a while now
Turns out its much worse than you might think
Mordecai has always been pretty critical of Viktor's fashion/grooming choices. Telling Viktor he should clean up his facial hair and wear sharper tailoring for "professional" reasons
But some fans see in this the beginning of Mordacai wanting he and his partner to match. Getting Viktor to wear the same red tie, despite the big guy not liking formal wear of any kind
But this is only the tip of this iceburg
In a recent question about what Viktor's favourite colour is, Tracy responded that while Viktor has probably never even thought about that topic, Mordecai, if present, would state confidently that is is slate blue
When we look at Viktors clothing in the series, we can see a preference for blue/grey blue
Turns out Mordecai, for all his criticism of Viktor's sense of style during their years working together, was quietly studying Viktor and taking note of this
@latestagejenga has also pointed out that while Mordecai seemingly exclusively wears single breasted waistcoats, we see Viktor wearing a double breasted one in "Massacre"
Mordecai again clearly took note of this
Meaning in the lead up to the Lackadaisy New Years party for 1926, the last one before Atlas fell and the world he was holding up with him, not only did Mordecai arrange for matching suits to be made to his and Viktor's measurements, and maximise their symmetry in the group photo
But he wanted them both made in the colour Viktor would like the most, and in a style that he thought Viktor would prefer, he wanted them both dressed in Viktor's favourite colour and personal style
Then most impressively, just like with the tie previously, convinced/nagged Viktor into cooperating (he may have taken off the tie and rolled up the sleeves but hey him playing along at all is quite a compromise from Viktor "I hate dressing up" Vasko)
Symmetry and sharp tailoring are two things that mean a LOT to Mordecai Heller. He is borderline fixated on them.
But that night he tried as hard as possibe to make them enjoyable for Viktor
Mordecai...you poor thing
