Thinking of the masquerade.
Rook and Neve and Lucanis and Spite and Justice all beautifully exchanging dance partners as the music swells. No one less in one with one than the other. No one less beautiful than the other. When you dance with Spite, you fly, acrobatics, seen by no one. When you dance with Justice it’s impossible dips and quick lifts.

Sasha glanced around the ballroom. "Quite a crowd tonight," the warrior noted.
"Mm, and all of them will be jockeying for power, making alliances, and plotting assassinations," Neve noted. She sighed. "I don't know how Dorian convinced us to come.
"He didn't," Rook laughed softly. "Tarquin and Ashur did, and you can never say no to Ashur."
"I suppose I can't," Neve admitted.
"Well, if we're here on display for Dorian's sake, we may as well enjoy a terpsichorean past time, yes?" Rook suggested.
Neve laughed. "You know, you could just ask me to dance."
Rook executed a half bow and offered her hand to her lover. "Will you dance, my love?"
"For you, Trouble, anything," Neve smiled softly as she accepted Rook's hand.
