I have no way of studying this.
But I would love to know the causation/correlation of the fact that every single person with masklophobiaa I have ever met or talked to has had a hobby or interest that is in someway connected closely to mask and animatronics.
To the point someone could tell me they make fursuits and have this diagnosed phobia and I would *believe them* because i have not met a single person eith the phobia that doesnt have some random hobby or interest where I am wondering what their specific phobias "logic" is.
Mine included.

What phobia do you have and why?
Lol well someone actually read my random post tags.
I suffer from masklophobia, which is a fear of masks and/or costumed characters/mascots. For me it is specifically mascots, so think the things at sports events or amusement parks. Being around them, too close to them, or interacting with them gives me panic attacks and/or causes obsessive behavior of know where they are at all time so they can be avoided.
Why? I don't know, and in general most people with true phobias don't have a singular point that caused them. There are some who do but I don't. Rule of thumb don't ask people why they have a phobia, especially if its irrational. While I'm not bothered by talking about it, for someone people being asked to just discuss it can trigger anxiety. It can also be embarrassing and can come across as accusatory or belittling.
