It’s been a minute since I did an intense acid exfoliating mask. I haven’t tried the OLEHENRIKSEN PHAT Glow Facial Mask for a few years. I actually worked on the OLEHENRIKSEN rebranding 5 years ago and the brand will always have a special place in my ♥️! . With bentonite and kaolin clays, Ole’s PHAT Glow Facial Mask was one of the first PHA treatments I came across. Even though PHA’s are more gentle acids, PHAT is definitely intense. While I felt only a slight sensation that reminded me of a cool breeze while it was on, I saw no irritation after. I did, however, feel the coolness for about 30 minutes. And my complexion was smooth AF! . What are PHA’s? Polyhydroxy acids are a class of exfoliating acids similar to AHA’s and BHA’s. There’s a spectrum of AHA’s with the most potent Glycolic Acid on one end and the least harsh Mandelic Acid on the other. I think of PHA’s as similar to Mandelic Acid in terms of intensity and tolerability . . According to the experts on the Paula’s Choice Research Team, “Polyhydroxy acids are ingredients such as gluconolactone and lactobionic acid. They’re supposed to be as effective as AHAs, but less sensitizing…The significant difference between them and AHAs is that gluconolactone and lactobionic acid have larger molecular structures, which limits their ability to penetrate the skin, resulting in less potential for sensitizing side-effects.” . From the outside, I tested out Caudalie’s new Vinergetic C+ Instant Detox Mask. I love a good detox clay mask. Of course, my all-time fave is the NIOD Flavanone Mud. Oddly, I hadn’t had the chance to experience Caudelie yet and I’m not sure why. I actually think they do a nice job with their formulas. Known for antioxidant powered skincare derived from grape seeds, it always seems solid to me. . The new Vinergetic C+ Instant Detox Mask is a rich, purifying clay mask infused with Grapeseed polyphenols and two kinds of clarifying clays — kaolin and bentonite. It’s a clarifying sensorial #selfcaresunday treat, for sure. . I love the deep clean I got. But it’s that sensorial part that I’m not a real fan of. It comes in the form of several fragrant plant oils, including Lavender Oil. I don’t understand why it’s even in there. Fragrant plant oils are fragrance and fragrance isn’t skincare. If you’re sensitive to fragrance in your skincare, you probably won’t like Caudalie’s Vinergetic C+ Instant Detox Mask. If not, I say give it a go. . With IG down yesterday I decided to take advantage and relax. Finally got around to trying the @drbrandt Magnetight Mask. This was a very different experience I have to say. I applied it with the little spatula it comes with, left it on 10 minutes and then used the magnet 🧲 covered in tissue to remove it. It was so cool 😎!! I honestly thought ok this is probably not gonna do anything. But I was so wrong 😅😅. My skin looked and felt so hydrated and soft. All my dry patches were gone and I could see a brightness to my face too.
