#8 for the BatB AU
Okay so embarrassingly enough I started work on this Sunday, turned into a vegetable after my final Monday, and restarted my laptop with the draft open but not saved rip
8. In the dark kiss
It was becoming easier to see past the curse. Not fully, but if she closed her eyes, she could concentrate on removing the layers of the illusion from her senses. It would be long before she was perfect at it; she could still feel the whisper of fur when she glided her hands across the bare skin of his chest.
Day was a time for rest and puzzling over the layers of his curse. Night, however, belonged to lovers.
“Turn for me, once more.”
She spun in a soft arc under the moon’s light, silhouette pale upon the wooden floor. The gown she wore was sheer and graceful, flowing down to her knees. He stood watching in the shadows, a glint of admiration in his half-human eyes.
A clawed hand reached for her, but when she took it, the skin was human, palm decorated with hard-worn calluses. His kiss was delicate, though his cheeks scratched with day-old stubble.
“We need to break this spell,” she said softly, burying her fingers in his hair—mane, fur, god, she didn’t know anymore.
“In time,” he agreed with another kiss. “I’d like to do this in the sun, in the garden when the flowers bloom in spring.”
