Costume designer Margaret Furse created this striking Tudor gown for the 1969 film ๐จ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐, a production that earned her the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. The costume was first worn by Katharine Blake as Elizabeth Boleyn. ย Two years later, Margaret Furse revisited the gown for ๐ด๐๐๐, ๐ธ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐ in 1971, where it was worn by an uncredited extra. To give the costume a more Elizabethan appearance, the oversleeves appear to have been removed, while the undersleeves seem to have been reversed, placing the slashed portion of the sleeve at the shoulder rather than the wrist. ย What do you think of this gown's alteration? Was it an effective way to give the costume a new look? Let us know what you think in the comments or on our website at Bit.ly/TudEliz003 ย ย
