I saw someone talking about this earlier, but I love the concept of The Winter Soldier being a ghost story. The IDEA of the Winter Soldier. Something you see out the corner of your eye. A ghost that leaves a trail of bodies. Something you never saw coming and never saw leave.
In CA:TWS the Death Squad mentioned by Bucky (idk how to spell the whole thing) is considered more dangerous. But in the 60 or so years that he was the Winter Soldier, he was the one people feared. Yes, the Death Squad was successful, but that was the work of 5. He created a reputation by being a one man killer. Not only that, but an efficient and deadly machine with one mission. To comply.
I kind of wish we got to see more of the Winter Soldier in action (but don't get me wrong, seeing Buck as the Winter Soldier makes me sad). Having more elaboration and action would be interesting though.

I used to be very big on symbrock during my late teenage years. But nowadays I just can't bring myself to enjoy it anymore. Because the very aspect of the characters that I found so enjoyable and fascinating to me, keeps getting downplayed and erased in favor of this weird drug metaphor narrative intended to impress straight ppl. From what Ik, it's because of the first Spiderman cartoon that wrote them like that since there wasn't too many Venom appearances to work with at the time, but overtime this mis-take started to repeat itself in different adaptations and become cemented as the mainstream perception of what the characters were about.
And that sucks for me because the reason why I fucked with these characters in the first place was because of the queer rep. It was so euphoric for me to stumble upon pictures of Venom #150 depicting a dark queermasc pairing that didn't feel corporate or like it was trying to hard to pander. And to see that within Venom of all characters, a character who is so big within the mainstream was amazing. That's why I find it so disheartening the amount of times and the amount of ppl that disregard symbrock as a legit story element. Including some writers somehow? Like, I'm made to feel like I'm delusional and crazy for caring about these characters in the first place.
I haven't read any recent comics, let alone touched anything recent involving them in fear of mockery and disappointment, but I kinda want to talk to symbrock shippers still. Spidey x MJ ppl at least get to have their critiques and grievances with the mishandling of their ship taken seriously. Meanwhile symbrock shippers get gaslit for even daring to acknowledge their ship as a canonical story element sometimes. :/
mini ironheart/ iron man rant bc the fandom’s lack of media literacy makes me want to bang my head against a wall sometimes 🥰
kinda spoilers for ironheart? but if you’re reading this i assume you’re caught up lol
first of all: it’s ok for fans to joke about tony’s superpower being his money… but when riri, a character who has never known tony personally & just knows the public’s “billionaire playboy philanthropist” perception of him, questions if he’d be who he was without billions of dollars he inherited from his dad, then it’s a problem?
she immediately follows up that question with “no shade, that’s just the way the world works”… so where are we getting the idea that she’s disrespecting him??
all i see is a teenage girl with limited resources looking at what a very wealthy man was able to accomplish using his almost unlimited resources & wishing she had the means to do anything close to what he created
also she’s 100% got a point and anyone who’s mad just isn’t paying attention lol
“tony built an arc reactor and suit with a box of scraps in a cave!” ok yes i know that, we all do! it’s the most quoted thing in all of marvel! & while that is very impressive (no one said it wasn’t), tony wouldn’t have even been in that cave if it weren’t for his status
his entire arc as iron man starts with that kidnapping, and if he wasn’t the son of weapons-manufacturer howard stark, he wouldn’t have had the weapons empire or the billions of dollars in inherited money, he would not have been kidnapped by terrorists and therefore he would not have come up with the iron suit in the first place
sure he’d still be a genius without his money and would be capable of building the suits, but without money, resources, & all the time in the world to mess around in his mansion, he wouldn’t be able to build as many suits as he does in the mcu
anyway tony would’ve loved riri and everyone hating bc she dared question if the billionaire would still be who he was without his money needs to watch the movies again
not to be controversial on main, but it's quite interesting how the marvel shows lead by white leads have all had at least 9 episodes for their show, yet the shows lead by people of color have only been given 5/6 episodes...
like wandavision 9 episodes, daredevil 9 episodes, agatha all along 9 episodes, loki 12 episodes.
then there's falcon and the winter solder 6 episodes, ms. marvel 6 episodes, moonknight 6 episodes, and now ironheart with 6 episodes.
it's just interesting how the shows with poc as leads can't seem to get those extra episodes...maybe i'm overthinking but it just doesn't sit right with me because you CAN do 9 eps but they chose not to do it with particular shows???
Ok but I am legit in love with this movie. To me, these guys are the found family Avengers everyone wrote fics about in 2012
Congressman Bucky is smth I wasn't expecting but I am not complaining about. He's so goofy 💕 (don't get me started on the dishwasher scene... I cried laughing)
I love the realistic take on how Yelena's mental state would be after everything she's gone through *nats death, red room, etc* especially how they portray it in those freaky ass rooms the void sends people to. it's refreshing and makes my heart melt when she finds the right crowd to help her out 🫶 ('we own you now.' ICONIC)
Again with the realistic takes, I love how Thunderbolts made John likeable. Like he's still a complete asshat but you can kinda sympathize with him in his situation. You gotta love him bro
I really have no opinions of Ava so far, I haven't watched the ant man movie she's in (pretty sure it's ant man) but her thing of phasing through walls is cool and reminds me of vision randomly breaking into Wanda's room via wall
ALEXEIII HE'S SUCH A DAD IN THE MOVIE EMBARRASSING YELENA AND HYPING UP THE TEAM I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! OK listen he may have a kill count of like 100 or something and can break someone's skull without trying but he's a teddy bear trust.

Silly little reminder that when Hulk did this (rant ahead)
He was throwing around a creature who is considered to be 500+ lbs because he and Thor both have super high muscle and bone density, so Hulk is literally tossing around a guy (that's super fucking heavy) like he's a stuffed animal. (Cont. below)
And that wasn't even his entire strength, because he didn't even break a FUCKING SWEAT!! so why the hell did he lose all the other battles in the MCU? Because the writers won't show how strong he is!! HE LITERALLY DID THIS TO SURTUR
HE FUCKING KNOCKED SURTUR AROUND LIKE A PUNCHING BAG
THE BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR EXECUTING RAGNAROK AND THE ONE WHO LITERALLY DESTROYED THE ENTIRETY OF ASGARD AND WAS THE ONLY SUPPOSED THING THAT COULD HAVE BEAT HELA (Hulk could have) WAS KNOCKED AROUND LIKE A GODDAMN PUNCHING BAG!!
And also, may I just point out that Hulk wouldn't have been scared of Thanos? That was so OOC for him it genuinely hurt me. Hulk loves fighting people as strong if not stronger than him. That's why he fights Thor so much. That's why the idea of him fighting Void and Sentry are coming up so much. He would have wanted to fight Thanos. And if I am mathematically correct, BASE Sentry could wipe the floor with Thanos. Maybe not wipe the floor, but win. And if Hulk and BASE SENTRY brawled, they would literally fight until they turned back into Bruce and Bob (this has happened in Canon). The only reason Hulk "won" was because Bruce was so pissed he beat the shit out of Bob, because Bob didn't wanna fight because it's Bob.
And another little thing? I'm not disrespecting Tony Stark at all, but if Tony could handle the Infinity Gauntlet then Smart Hulk should have been able to as well. It makes no sense to me why literal Hulk couldn't, but Tony could. Even if Tony had the upgraded one, Hulk is literally so much stronger than Tony. Tony's feat was ridiculously impressive, but MCU writers absolutely shit on Hulk.
I keep seeing ppl complain about supergirl. Particular claiming that their hatred for the movie is all due to one song cover during the needle drop and I gotta say, stupid reason.
Music plays a large role in films yes, and maybe my opinion will change after I go to see it in a few days, but I've never been torn from a film over ONE song. There are plenty of movies with songs or scores that I don't particularly care for but it never takes me out of the movie. To me the cover is simply a reason people are being misogynistic towards supergirl bc... she's a girl.
SHOCKER!! female superheroes exist! You can't complain about female superheroes being boring or dull in media and then complain about good rep. I've also seen ppl bitch about minor male superheroes being adapted into women, for instance: taskmaster.
Frankly, I love taskmaster's story in the mcu! Being pissed off that she's not another buff bitchy dude is wild to me. Her storyline is interesting, her fight scenes are cool, and I was genuinely upset when she gets killed off in the first few minutes of Thunderbolts. She is such a cool character, but you guys hated her so much they fucking shot her!
Agatha a Rio this Agatha and Rio that SHUT UP. (I love them to but...)
The people that are mad because an episode was about Billy Maximoff Explaining his character are actually insane. Like I felt it's necessary to explain. Plus, there's plenty of more episodes coming. It was not a bad episode. It was genuinely a nice backstory moment.
Like why are we ignoring the fact that we got in-depth detail of why Billy Maximoff is on the road as well as learning about his character. Nobody knew about the amnesia. Nobody truly knew the cinematic version of Billy Maximoff changes and it's an important moment. The episode wasn't a filler. The episode was an explanation. There's gonna be plenty of other moments for Agatha and rio.
