In the Martin Bashir documentary on Jackson, did you recognise him as the man you'd been married to?

LMP: No, but I thought there was an agenda there. You can edit eight months' worth of footage to look any way you want it to look. But I never saw any behaviour like that when I was with him or if I did it was so brief. There were so many sides to him but they seemed to want one particular side in the documentary. The whole thing, to me, was like someone going into a hospital and badgering a patient. It was like [Bashir] was antagonising him and it was cruel. Unnecessarily. And that's screwed up.

LMP: […] Martin Bashir and all these interviews, and in those interviews I saw him intoxicated. I didn’t see the Michael that I knew in that Martin Bashir interview. He was high as a kite, from what I saw and from what I knew.

O: Really?

LMP: He was either too speedy or he was sedated. It wasn’t the Michael that I knew.

O: The shocking things, he said some pretty shocking things in that Martin Bashir interview, particularly about how he felt about how it was okay to sleep with young children.

LMP: I think he said that stuff sometimes to be defiant, because he got so angry at having been accused. He was such a stubborn little rebel at times and he was like a child and he would just say what he felt everyone didn’t want him to say. I don’t feel like he had a straight head during those things and I think that they were edited in a very, very manipulative nasty way.

The "Totally not biased" shitshow made with the same guy that was exposed for being a scammer who did everything from editing videos to faking documents to slander people? I'd rather eat glass.

Can't wait for the inevitable "I know I tried to make this man seem like a freak of nature and a danger both to himself and others, but I actually believe he's innocent and adored him" switch up from Bashir once he gets chewed the hell up. Again.

I'm going to be keeping up with this book review series (Part 1 was just released); but it promises to be an honest and scathing review of BBC's intentional negligence (one which the broadcasting network has still largely swept under the rug.)
