Frank was wandering the halls of the castle, as had become his habit over the past few days. Alice was usually in meetings or talking with other inner circle order members at this time. Frank had avoided a decent number of people since arriving  but he figured there were people who would be easier to start with for checking in. Frank had heard Marlene arrive a day or two ago but he had not had the courage to go check in on her. Frank walked towards where he had thought her room had been. Frank nervously walked down the last few hallways clutching the bottle of rum in his hand as a piece offering.

Frank knocked on her door frame hoping not to disturb her despite the fact her door was open. He peaked his head in looking at his old friend in her room. “Hi, I... umm I brought a peace offering.” He said holding up the rum. “I wanted to see how you were doing.”

who’s the one to wake up the kids:

Neither...? I just get the feeling both of these women are hot messes in the morning. Aurora works late hours, as does Marlene, they honestly sleep as late as possible and take turns getting up the kids for school, activities, etc...

who makes the breakfast:

Marlene... It’d have to be Marlene unless you want Aurora burning the food and burning down the house. Marlene was around some cooking thanks to the Leaky Cauldron. That and her upbringing make her the breakfast queen.

who’s the one to cry for everything:

Marlene... Aurora’s just so used to internalizing her feelings and being the ice queen. Marlene isn’t too different, but she’s definitely more affected by the babies I think. Happy and sad tears come easy for her when it’s about their babies.

who’s the more discipline parent and who’s the more lenient one:

Aurora... Is the more disciplined one. Marlene has always been more laid back and it doesn’t change when it comes to parenting. Not that either of them are particularly tough, but Aurora’s though process is always more rational, where there need to be consequences if something happens.

who helps with the potions homework:

Marlene... Aurora thinks it’s a conflict of interest if she’s helping her kids with potions. So what she doesn’t teach potions, she is still a professor and see the potions professor all the time!

who does baby talk:

Marlene... Aurora does not understand baby talk! She’s just like, okay when don’t we talk to them in real words so they can learn how to talk! She just doesn’t understand. But Marlene is like THE mom, so she does all that cute stuff.

who wakes up for midnight feedings:

Both... Nights are easier for them than mornings and they are usually awake late into the evenings, so they either do it together or take turns feeding the little cuties. 

who’s the one who always worries:

Marlene... She tries to play it off. She’s this though, fiery, red head. She doesn’t worry. Except... she does when it’s her kids and it’s in the little ticks and things. Aurora learned how to recognize them - messing with her hair, wringing her hands, those kinds of things.

who picks up the kids early from school for some fun:

Marlene... AURORA WOULD NEVER. School is like the most important thing to Aurora, and while Marlene things it’s also important, she’s not against pulling them out of school and taking them on a roadtrip or just letting them stay home and do nothing.

who’s the competitive parent:

Both... They’re competitive in different ways. Marlene is EXTREMELY vocal during quidditch games or academic competitions, while Aurora is the pusher. She always encourages the kids to do more and try their best. Like most things, they tag team this area.

who kisses the ouches:

Marlene... Aurora doesn’t understand what kissing does for any ouches. Ice can help. Band aids can help. Kisses, they do nothing! Marlene likes to roll her eyes though and show how kissing ouches makes all the pain go away. 

who’s the sucker for the puppy eyes:

Neither... These girls are tough cookies! The toughest of tough and they will not bend for something as small as puppy eyes. Now... Ice cream with a cherry on top is another story. 

who makes the “dad jokes”:

Aurora... She’s so smart she always has some good puns in her back pocket that she can pull out when the need arises for it, 

who embarrassed their kid for fun:

Marlene... She’s got a gift really. She knows what to say, when to say it and who to say it in front of for maximum embarrassment. Oh they run into her kid’s crush at the store, time to tell that one embarrassing story about that one thing that happened that one time. “MOM”

who’s the over protective one:

Both... They worked very hard to get to where they are and the last thing Marlene and Aurora want is for their children to ever go through anything close to what they experienced. They want their kids to have the best lives and in their head that involves being protective. Aurora edges out Marlene in this category, but just slightly.

who’s the “take a sweater!” parent:

“I unfortunately know too well what you mean.” He could not hide the grimace that came across his face fast enough. She was not his little sister, but the brotherly instincts still came out full force. “Maybe it feels that way now, but things will change once the war is over. Maybe our emotions will go back as normal as possible. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess.”

Marlene and Aurora are the leaders of rival gangs.

It was amazing how much had changed the past few years. The Death Eaters were no more and Aversio and The Order had evolved into completely different organizations. Some, even, would call them gangs. Defeating the DEs had taken more out of everyone than they had ever planned and when they came out the other end of the war, no one was the same. 

Aurora was now the leader of Aversio and their main goal was to oppose The Order. The Order was lead by Marlene McKinnon and their main goal was to oppose Aversio. It was funny really home someone who’d once been an untrustworthy, double agent was now the leader of an organization. They were all about inclusion though! The Order was looking to integrate muggles and wizards in the world more than they already were, while Aversio remembered the days of witch hunts and burnings. They wanted to keep things just they way they were.

It wasn’t a war, not like before, but there were battles. Skirmishes. Some… tense interactions, especially when the two leaders of the gangs ran into each other.

But also, I was curious if, perhaps, we could go on another little adventure like we did at Zonko’s. Obviously not in Diagon Alley anymore, but somewhere safer. It was the most fun I’ve had in weeks, and I think that we could both use a little distraction. 

Maybe you could show me something you’re fascinated by? Which, however much you humor me, would doubtless be much more interesting than potion-ingredients.
