On August 23, 2020, police shot a 29-year-old Black man named Jacob Blake. Blake was shot in the back as he opened the driver's door to his SUV. Three of his sons witnessed the incident from the backseat. In the wake of the shooting, social unrest erupted in Kenosha, Wisconsin, drawing both protesters and counter protesters.
