Before our current social media era, magazine, ‘zines were the platforms that circulated information on bands and scenes. The Rock Angelino scene had several magazines and ‘zines, with Al Borde begin the publication that latest the longest in continued published form. La Banda Elástica was the most critically acclaim publication and the coolest in terms of design. There were others of course: La Neta, a DIY ‘zine focused more on the rock urbano. Retila in the 1990s and Bazuca in the 2000s that were pocket zine publications. Y un titipuchal more. There were also a couple ska-focused ‘zines. As LÁ bands began to gain popularity and buzz, English-language publications also got in on the action. Here’s the 1999 cover of BAM magazine featuring Pastilla and it’s OG line-up with Víctor and Adrián Monroy, Eric Rubalcaba, and Heriberto González. In addition, the cover also lists the other the two members of the Rock Angelino 1990s trinity: María Fatal and Los Olvidados. Sadly, the southern California edition of BAM folded at the end of 1999.
