first marathon: enjoyed ✔️

this one was very special for many of reasons. I never thought I would be able to handle marathon training and get to the start line. Not necessarily the mileage but the food element of it. As someone still healing from ED (now just healing the ill leftovers, but I cannot truthfully say that I am 100% healthy) the thought of eating as much food as marathon training requires scared me. And that is why I knew I needed to do it. To challenge myself and provide myself that I CAN fuel myself properly. It was not perfect all the time, but I kept doing my best and proving myself that I can do it.
Another challenge was the mental highs and lows. The endorphin-high-wave after nicely executed tempo long run is special. The next day the low (and the hunger and the tiredness) hits. Together with ED I used to struggle on and off with depression. And waking up feeling low is super scary for me because I never know if that is just one bad day, or start of a spiral to hell. I just had to remind myself that it is part of the process.
Last time I trained for marathon, I got sick 3 days before. Health is never guaranteed and getting to start line is a win in itself. And for these reasons, this marathon debut was special for me 🫶🏻 and the time - like excuse me what ???? that is just a cherry on top
