Your latest post about the links crushing on another persons friend inspired an idea that I wanted to share because I really like your writing! ((But also if you don’t like this sort of stuff, I am sorry and feel free to delete!))
The main idea was inspired by Four and Time/malons blacksmithy friend!
I think it would of been interesting if the Smith had originally stumbled onto the LonLon ranch at an early ish age looking for work. Time and Malon were confused as to why this kid was asking to supple them with an arrangement of items or even be their on call repair person if something broke. The young smith didnt give them much of an answer, only a half excuse about wanting to gain experience.
It is still Talon’s ranch -even though it’s mostly ran by the couple now a days- so he got final say, and much to the couple’s surprise, he said yes!
Something about the best way to learn was by getting your hands on the work.
So that’s what happened! The smith would show up at the beginning of their ‘shift’ and work on the tasks given to them -Strangely, they were already quite adept in the forge, a fact Talon would praise and tell the weary couple often- and then go home.
Malon had tried on many occasions to get the kid to open up, or to explain their situation. But they often would just slink away mid conversation to finish whatever task they had before them. It wasn’t until Time followed the smith -to return an item they had forgotten at the ranch- that they found out that the Smith was in fact homeless. Living in an abandoned building with nothing but their clothes on their back and rupees stashed under an empty pillow case.
After that, the two were insistent on the smith staying with them but the smith quickly denied.
Not wanting the smith on the streets any longer, they offered to help them get a home - apartment or house, it didnt matter to them as long as the Smith had somewhere safe to go. Thankfully, they took Malon and Time up on that offer.
And like! I kinda imagine the two having to maybe legally adopt the smith? They don’t act like parents to them -mostly because the Smith refused to treat them as such- but they are trusted adults they could come to. And the Smith obviously grows up and still works for the Ranch when the chain and Four comes along!
Anyways! Thats it! You’re writing is always a pleasure to read and I hope you’re having a great day!
I love this idea! They might not have kids of their own yet, but I don't think there's any denying Time and Malon have some strong parent energy going on.
I could see them being especially worried about reader in this scenario given Time's own past and the fact that he's also an orphan who was pretty much left to navigate the world alone as a child.
I think he'd see a bit of himself in reader and let that silently bother him until finally telling Malon what he found out. She'd, of course, share his concerns, but would have a more go-get-it attitude about the matter. For her, there'd be no hesitation or question about it: from that day on, reader would officially become their unofficial child (whether they accept it or not).
I'm glad you liked the post and thanks for taking the time to share 💜 Have a great day!
