Or alternatively I saw someone make a joke that Saw Gerrara just assumes all Jedi know each other- so it would be sorta hilarious if on a mission Kanan and Ezra are working with Saw and he just mentions some ginger Jedi with a poncho like it’s no big deal and Kanan just does a double take. Because wdym his lab partner for space chemistry 101 survived the purge?? AND does his rebel missions in a cool space yacht instead of the equivalent of a barely functioning kitted out mini van??

So many people think that having a friend with trauma is too much to deal with and expect their friend to be Normal and Act Perfectly And Not Traumatised™️. Remember kids, trauma is only cool when fictional characters have it (this is a joke!!)

But the mantis crew never makes Cal feel like he is too much or like he is a burden to them. They care about him in their own ways.

Greez makes sure he eats and talks about star ships with him.

Cere teaches him new techniques and tells him old Jedi stories.

BD quite literally heals him and is his best friend!

Merrin makes him laugh and her wonder at the galaxy soothes his own bitterness towards it.

All of them acknowledge that Cal has trauma and that it makes him act in a certain way but they never hold that against him. They understand him and they are there for him.

And even when they aren’t—they are.

They make sure that Cal knows that they didn’t leave because of him, they left because they needed to. Their decision had nothing to do with him and his trauma and instead was about their own trauma.

What inspires Cal to go to Koboh? Yes it’s the broken gyro but it’s also the holofilm that BD plays. It’s the memory of how his crew, his FAMILY, cared for him.

I absolutely adore Cere’s line about Cal being a child soldier because she is acknowledging WHY he acts the way he does and she is letting him know that she understands, even if he doesn’t.

Cause Cal thinks he is a burden. Cal thinks he drove his crew away. And as each of them tells Cal why they initially left, he begins to forgive himself and allows for his crew to carry some of the weight.

A burden shared is a burden halved.

As someone who has been told that they are too much, and that their trauma is too much and that I’m a burden, I appreciate the Jedi games for showing us people supporting someone with trauma, loving them, caring about them and acknowledging that their trauma informs who they are.
