per usual, let's meet our fl (yes, yes, she's gorgeous and im in love, y'all know the deal). this is seowoo yoon, the illegitimate daughter of a politician. she has had a very sheltered upbringing, taught to act reserved and demure while being prohibited from interacting with men. however, there's more than the meets the eye with seowoo......girly is a pervert. a massive pervert.
you see, while being stuck in the house as a means to ensure her "purity" and all, she ended up discovering porn and she quickly found out what she likes. her entire upbringing was essentially grooming her into being a submissive wife? perfect! she's into that lmao.
seowoo dreams of a dominant husband who's aggressive in the bedroom and, lucky for her, fate comes in clutch at a wedding one night....
enters eunhyuk kim, our ml and the man who embodies all of seowoo's desires. he is the heir to the wm group who's ideal marriage is an arranged one with a quiet and obedient wife. can y'all think of anyone who fits the bill? i sure can.
seowoo overhears him on the phone and immediately offers herself up to him. she knows she's exactly what he's looking for and she is not about to let this opportunity to pass her by. and so begins one spicy marriage that surpasses both of their expectations.
as i said at the beginning, i see why this title was such a big hit with the korean audience. the art is amazing, the scenes are tantalizing, and the leads are extremely entertaining. i very much enjoyed what i've read so far and i cannot wait for more episodes to be released.

I don't think i've ever mentioned it on here, but in addition to acotar, another horrifically bad piece of media I can't seem to stay away from is the manwha version of Under the Oak Tree. that shit is the blandest fantasy comic you have ever laid eyes on. no plot. no complexity. no symbolism. no characters. just tropes and archetypes. big ol' dude and itty bitty little love interest. the most pathetic protagonist you've ever met and meekness is her entire personality. her husband is made of Macho and Muscle. he has a ten pack. doesn't know what smiling is, except that it's something you shouldn't do because it means you deserve to be punched in face for even looking in his wife's direction. it's like if you made a house without any walls, just rickety sticks you picked up in the woods that looked nice, and you taped them all together and put some straw on top for the roof like one of those sad pigeons with a few twigs that doesn't know how to build a proper nest, and said here ya go! :D a story! :D and then a puff of wind blows it all down.
yet I can't stop reading it every few months when I remember it exists and binge every recent episode. then the author goes on hiatus. then I forget about it. then the cycle repeats

it pissed me off so much when riftan yelled at her for the boulder thing. instead of a 'oh thank god you're awake, that was reckless but you saved us' NO he gets all pissy and tells her to fuck off????? then she just. does. now her father's at the fucking estate she's resting at??????
i thought agnes would be more insightful, but again, no. 'hey your father's here, oh damn you don't look well all of a sudden what's wrong' again NOPE does NO ONE SPARE SECOND THOUGHTS
so to sum it up, her husband berates her for getting involved in battle, ships her away, she's forced to remain bedridden like a child and then when her abusive father arrives, her only friend can't be fucked to check in with why she wouldn't want to see her own father. maxi is repeatedly kicked down for trying anything on her own, and the people she loves don't give a shit about the person behind the title of lady of anatol.
gawd forbid a woman do anything in this story.
i haven't read the novel and i don't plan on it (i ain't buying that) but i really hope maxi stands her ground. properly. like no one gives her shit for it. AND that she's backed up by her friends. agnes seems to adore maxi, she needs to step up where it's important.
just,,,, maxi needs a win. capital W, big dubs, all that jazz.
