For the writer asks! 5, 9, and then one of your choice as well!❤
MANKAAAAAAAAA! ❤️ Thank you so so much for sending this in, my lovely wonderful friend! And thanks for answering the one I sent you earlier! ❤️
From the “Fun meta asks for writers” post
Number 5 (What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?) was already answered here, so I’ll answer your other questions!
9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?
I used to be the ultimate pantser, but I found that it wasn’t helping me get my longfics finished or coherent, so I started plotting them instead. But then I find that I can’t work with something that’s too tightly plotted because inevitably I’ll come up with a better idea or better plot point, or find plot holes that I didn’t expect would come up.
So now I think I do a happy medium of pantsing and plotting -- pantsing to get the scenes out or brainstorm ideas or jot down ideas and scenarios that I can use, and lightly/loosely plotting the longfic so that I know roughly where I’m going. I can get more detailed with a plot/subplot or plot point when I get near it or when I need to.
I do still often “pants it” for one-shots (especially those under 5k words), but they’re easier to do so because I’ve got a rough idea of where I’m going -- it’s much shorter to get from start to finish and you know what should go in the middle, so you can pretty much “pants” the whole thing if needed.
and one of my choice, so I’ll pick...
15. Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?
Honestly? Tags. Rare-pairs don’t often have fandom-wide agreed-upon tags, as you probably know, LOL.
As for which one is harder out of titles or summaries, hmmm. Probably summaries? Simply because you want your summary to not just sum up the fic, but also whet the appetite of readers and make them want to click on your fic. I feel like titles are easier, but not always -- it sometimes depends on the fic.
Thanks for the ask! ❤️
