I find the story of Angelic Lady, utterly fascinating
Because by all means and accounts, Jana is doing almost everything that Angela did, yet sheâs the heroine.
And thatâs not whatâs interesting, cause a lot of the time villainess manhuas do it. They just never acknowledge it and sweep it under the rug.
But it feels like this Manhua ALMOST wants to call it into action. ALMOST wants to say âJana isnât a good personâ, constantly framing her as someone who would lie, cheat and manipulate others just to get what she wants.
Yet it never fully commits. And itâs entirely because of ML, Dane.
Her reasoning for never going back with her original fiancĂ© is âIn a past life you were brainwashed by magic potion that forced you to fall for someone you didnât love and betray me. I canât trust you anymore, even though you wonât drink that potion this time, and you worship the ground I walk onâ
And I canât buy it cause it has the same ring as âyou cheated on me in my dreams so Iâll break up with youâ
And I canât buy it even MORE when the one sheâs pursuing is THE LITERAL CROWN PRINCE.
That, added with the fact sheâs subtly acting like Angela more and more, feelsâŠlike sheâs deliberately using and discarding men to climb socially.
Which I wouldnât mind, if thatâs how it was framed. But this story is soooo hell bent in still framing her as a good person - even though everything about her speaks that sheâs also a trashy person (just a competent one) - that any nuance is completely washed away
