Mars is the planet of celibacy in vedic astrology and ive been noticing lately that the Mars nakshatras (Mrigashira, Chitra, Dhanishta) and also Ashwini nakshatra, tend to be common in people who identify as asexual and aromantic. In terms of body parts, Mars is related to the head, blood vessels, and muscular tissue, which is contrary to the belief that this planet is inherently very sex oriented. It’s actually Venus that represents our bodily fluids (semen and sperm) and also the sexual organs themselves. It can also be seen in many Venusian natives that they have an almost obsessive attachment to sex and the sexual organs, that they make many of their life choices based on their ability to obtain maximum pleasure in these areas. Venus also relates to our sensory system and these people can be seen mixing sensory experiences like consuming alcohol and drugs with sex and foreplay as a means to maximize their pleasure. These Venusian traits are especially heightened in Rahu individuals, from what ive seen, as Rahu was said to be taught “everything it knows” by Shukra dev himself. With Ketu individuals, the need to consume alcohol, sex, and drugs stems less from obsession with sexual gratification and more from a place of trying to find means to stabilize themselves through exploring their psyche with these methods. Ketu is considered to be most similar to Mars and Mars also refrains from sex and sexual obsession in most cases as the nature of Mars is to develop an abundance of physical, sexual energy and then transmute it upward through the body (the muladhara center being the lowest center in the body and it’s Mars ruled) to obtain fierceness and strength to protect and provide for itself and those dear to it. This is really similar to how Mars is associated with knights, military, farmers, and soldiers and all of the above are known to sacrifice their libido for long periods of time so they can focus on training the mind and body for battle/war to protect the higher powers that rule above it (such as the Sun, as Sun rules over members of society associated with royalty and longevity in their family trees). Like Mars, Ketu can skillfully turn their libido “on” and “off” at will, as a means to both control themselves and better understand themselves on a spiritual level. Whereas Venus and Rahu can be said to be “slaves” to lust, sex, and the libido, it can be seen that Mars and Ketu become careful masters of sex and the libido in their lives as a means to obtain the ultimate spiritual security seen in the foundational energies of the Muladhara center.
