Turns out, the bat kid is Aaron Langstrom, son of Man Bat. Because of Dr. Langstrom's dna being mixed with bats' dna, one of his children was born half-man, half-bat. And that baby has been growing up in secret, hidden away, like a monster, while his parents try to "fix" him and his siblings get mad at him for how his existence is making their parents sad. So he ran away, and he went to find Batman, someone just likes him.
Very interesting to have the story of Bruce being investigated for child abuse and murder also have a child that goes to Bruce for comfort and kinship.
