The ear, but not the gaze. But the head turns carefully backwards, not too far, not for too long, just for a moment. The back so delicate. The hair done up, gathered with a braid, in the morning, with what happened to be at hand. A strip of textile, a thin cloth ribbon, patterned. Or a brown string of leather. The coat, with the hood. The color has faded. It didn’t cost anything. The cardigan, the shirt she has had so long that she has really grown out of it. The Swedish artist is an eminent interpreter of the unique language of painting. With a sharp sense of mood, color and materiality, she has developed a personal take on the classical genres of painting: still lifes, interiors and landscapes are at the crux of her work. Her signature aesthetic is the result of repeated applications and overpainting.
