The Loy Krathong/Floating Lantern festival is celebrated on the first full moon of November in Thailand and other countries with siamese influence, which includes parts of Northern Malaysia.

So I ship these two now. Hard.

Ooooh... I don't think I have any straight up angst about the either, surprisingly, but I can explain the weird RusThai dynamic that could be considered it~ Basically, I don't think Russia is aware of Thailand's 'true' face.

I think Thailand used to be cold and stone-faced pre-1800/1900s, ruthless, in a way. However, at some point, he realised that a big smile and a charming attitude is what wins people over, especially when it comes to diplomacy. That superficial charm, smiling lot and having a reputation for being the 'Land of Smiles' became his bread and butter. Smiling for him because just as natural for him as breathing.

And, well, Russia has only ever seen this 'new' version of Thailand, who's really nice, charming, and smiley. To be honest, given Russia's nature of being touchy, clingy and childlike, Thailand could probably easily manipulate him if he wished. So to Russia, Thailand is just an IRL Disney prince lol

But yeah, this might be looking a bit too deep into their relationship dynamic for me, but their relationship definitely isn't 100% wholesome 100% of the time.

As for MalThai... Welllll, they definitely didn't have the best history in the past, with Thailand antagonising Malaysia as far as I know. And I think Mal might still get that impression off Thailand even nowadays.

Not to mention Thai's passive-aggressive jab at Malaysia saying that he liked him better in the 90's. I honestly wonder what was Malaysia's deal back then. (MalThai is also a fairly new ship for me, so I haven't had toooo much time to think heavily about them.)
