Unfortunately it’s not long before ford and him end up meeting and goes as expected.

Ford lashes out, suspecting that Stan is there only to ask him for a favor or sabotage his research. Stan wants to tell ford the truth but he ends up lying saying the just there for a pit stop to go over to Canada for a business meeting. Not exactly a lie, but definitely leaving out that he’s running from the cartels. And the fact that he’s homeless and very much NOT going to Canada for a business meeting.

Now by this time ford has already made a deal with bill and bill KNOWS Stan is a liability in his plans. So what does bill do? Tell ford he needs to go out into the woods for a very specific kind of material that will aide ford with his research, but he’ll need help in order to retrieve it. He tells him to invite Stan over for a few days, have him help. Have him redeem himself.

Ford is skeptical but his muse seemed very confident that ford would need to bring Stanley. He catches Stan at the store later that evening and like he was told invites Stan over.

Stan is ecstatic! He’s thinking maybe this could be a chance to make things right with his twin before he leaves. Maybe if things go right ford could even let him stay a little longer.

But when do things ever go right? They go on the hunt for this object that’s being held behind a waterfall, guarded and hidden deep within the cave. They get there but something goes wrong.

A warning to not steal, one that Stan was not aware about causes the item to be lost and release a monster that now hunts the twins until they reach the forest again.

Ford screams at Stanley, pacing around angrily “WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO STEAL?! ARE YOU STUPID?! WERE YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED?!” Stanford sighs angrily, “I shouldn’t have expected anything less from you, first you sabotage my science project and now my work-“

“Sixer I-“

“Don’t call me that.”

Stan stares at him this look of defeat on his face showing momentarily before being replaced by something more neutral.

“It was a mistake to have invited you along,” Stan winces, “when we get back you can pack your stuff and leave before you break something else.” Ford turns around and begins to walk away leaving Stan shocked, hurt.

“Six- Stanford! Please listen-“ Stan runs up to him, the shock wearing off forcing himself to be forcefully relaxed and calm, grabbing onto his twin’s shoulder, “Look we can try again tomorrow- maybe tonight! Maybe ya got some cool gadgets or something that we can-“

Ford slaps Stan’s hand off of him, “WILL YOU STOP SUFFOCATING ME?!”

Stan’s eyes become glossier, his showman persona finally falling off, his voice tiny, “you think I’m suffocating?”

Ford finally meets Stan’s eyes, his anger morphing into regret as he fully takes in his brothers expression, something that pine men were told never to show; vulnerability.

“Stan I-“ Ford begins to reach out before stopping, a cracking sound in the background.

He turns in time to see the creature lunge at him, to see as Stanley pushes him out of the way and receives the blow.

The one that was meant for him.

He hits the ground, watching as the creature begins to mull his brother. He gasps at the violent scene, frozen in shock for a few seconds before snapping back to his senses. He springs into action, grabbing a rock sharp enough to stab through its heart.

Blood is everywhere; on his hands, on his tench coat, and pooling beneath his brother.

"Indonesia’s new government started an ambitious project on Monday [January 6, 2025] to fight malnutrition by feeding nearly 90 million children and pregnant women that is expected to cost $28 billion through 2029, although critics question whether the program is affordable.

The Free Nutritious Meal program delivers on a campaign promise by President Prabowo Subianto, who was elected last year to lead the nation, which has more than 282 million people and Southeast Asia’s largest economy. He said the program aims to fight the stunting of growth that afflicts 21.5% of Indonesian children younger than 5 and would raise the income of farmers.

Subianto has pledged to accelerate GDP growth to 8% from 5% now.

In his inauguration speech in October, Subianto said many children are malnourished. His promise to provide free school lunches and milk to 83 million students at more than 400,000 schools is part of a longer-term strategy to develop the nation’s human resources to achieve a “Golden Indonesia” generation by 2045.

“Too many of our brothers and sisters are below the poverty line, too many of our children go to school without breakfast and do not have clothes for school,” Subianto said.

Subianto’s signature program could cost upward of 450 trillion rupiah ($28 billion) by the end of his term in 2029. He said his team has made the calculations to run such a program, and “We are capable.”

The government’s target is to reach an initial 19.5 million schoolchildren and pregnant women in 2025 with a budget of 71 trillion rupiah ($4.3 billion) so as to keep the annual deficit under a legislated ceiling of 3% of GDP, said Dadan Hindayana, the head of the newly formed National Nutrition Agency...

Nearly 2,000 cooperatives will be involved in the free meals program by providing eggs, vegetables, rice, fish, meat, milk and other food, Cooperative Minister Budi Arie Setiadi said.

On Monday, a truck carrying food arrived at SD Cilangkap 08, a primary school in the Jakarta satellite city of Depok. The 740 students were provided rice, stir-fried vegetables, tempeh, stir-fried chicken and oranges.

“We will send a team to each school to facilitate the meal distribution to students every day,” Hindayana said, adding that the program will provide one meal per day for each student from early childhood education to senior high school, covering a third of the daily caloric needs for children, with the government providing the meals at no cost to recipients...

According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey, the national stunting prevalence was 21.5%, down around 0.8% from the previous year. The United Nations Children’s Fund estimated that one in 12 Indonesian children younger than 5 suffers from low weight while one in five is shorter than normal. Both conditions are caused by malnourishment.

“That’s so bad and must be solved,” Suwarso said. “Child malnourishment has severe consequences, threatening the health and long-term development of infants and young children throughout this nation.”"

Simon (Iron Lung) was mutated by both the blood ocean and the tree that grew in it. Now, his cells also have chloroplast. He requires both CO2 and O2 for his body to properly function. Technically, his body can do photosynthesis, but it's not the best. But, it can help him in a pinch. In the worst case scenario, his body can recycle the same O2 and CO2, but again, it's not the best for him.

After Grace and Rocky pick him up, Grace is concerned about them both starving. Because while they can eat the Taumoeba, it's slowly leading to malnutrition. Simon's mutations allow him to handle it better. He can get nutrition from his photosynthesis cells. (Still not good enough to survive on, but he's better than Grace.) Simon watches the men who save him deteriorate faster than him. He knows part of the reason why is because Grace had to share his food.
