I’m writing a version of what Season 3 of Shadow and Bone might have been (currently at almost 35k words)
And I do ship Alina/Nikolai. And I do ship Alina/Mal. And I am so desperate to let them live in a polycule at the end, because I do also very much ship Alina/Mal/Nikolai.

My favorite thing about Shadow and Bone is how hard Nikolai is crushing on Malina. Like Alina and Mal are just going “aww, that’s my best friend Nikolai” and he is making heart eyes staring longingly at them and pulling all of his best lines and sitting sadly in a chapel and giving them everything he has.
