Beneath An Ancient Sea
Limestone landscapes, like what you get in the Yorkshire Dales, are formed from the skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral, forams and molluscs, so where you find limestone you know the area was once at the bottom of the sea. I find this sort of vastness of landscape history totally fascinating. =)

Riding The Extinct Glacier
A stunning wide vista from the top of Dean Moor Hill, a sheer drop down into the Watlowes Dry Valley, flanked by exposed limestone fells, sculpted by a long-extinct epic waterfall. The Yorkshire Dales at its finest.

The Pulpit
When you’re wandering around the Watlowes Dry Valley in Malham, there are seemingly countless fascinating geological features to focus on for compositions. Narrowing down your options is a tricky task. I made a composition of this wonderful limestone crag, which marks the sudden end of Dean Moor Hill before dropping down into the Dry Valley. Sunset was approaching, giving me delicious honey light on the crag and limestone. =)

A different area of limestone pavement in Malham Dale. (Different from Malham Cove) Malham is one of my favourite places in the world - this Summer I will be running a full day photo walk around the area.
