i figured out pretty recently that it's much easier for me to draw on black. this would have taken way more time on a white background bc then i always hyperfocus on rendering every single detail

ughh i'm still not entirely happy with the shading or the way she's leaning against the wall. i fought for my life with the perspective
originally i only wanted her to lean on one shoulder, but the pose felt a bit awkward/unbalanced (and i think the floor was too high up?), so i ended up changing it to both shoulders instead and moved the floor. i think it works somewhat better. i swear every drawing has one section that decides it's going to be my mortal enemy and this time it was that stupid wall 😭

tw: i talk about scars/scar tissue and gore/SH in the text below
scars are so hard to draw ugh! i also had to google different types. one type is atrophic (sunken below the skin, like many acne scars), but i settled for a mix of hypertrophic (raised but confined to the original wound) and keloid scars (where the scar tissue grows beyond the edges of the injury)
i imagine remus causing pretty deep wounds with his claws, and that many of them would have healed under less-than-ideal circumstances. i pictured most of the scarring to be concentrated across his back, wrapping around his ribs and then some on his arms and face
i could have added even more, but i was worried about overdoing it? at one point i considered giving him a big horizontal one across his abdomen, but then i started thinking about what kind of injury would leave that behind... and (sorry this is graphic!) the mental image of remus tearing himself open badly enough for his intestines to be exposed made me feel so awful that i abandoned the idea
i was originally thinking of giving james round glasses, but i think rectangular wire frames suit him really well too? if i made them round i feel like he starts looking a little too much like harry? idk. in my head james and harry always looked very similar in the face, but i imagine they had pretty different builds growing up. harry was starved for most of his childhood, whereas i headcanon james as being well fed and built like someone who spent most of his free time exercising or roughhousing with his friends.
idk if i accidentally made him too buff here though? 😭 i don't imagine him as having a huge bodybuilder frame or anything. more like broad shoulders, solid arms, and a decent layer of body fat over all the muscle. i feel like he'd have a bit of a soft stomach rather than a super defined six-pack.
i also firmly believe he has the sluttiest lower-back dimples known to mankind.
