. 5 Tips For Making Peace With Exercise 1. Awareness Realizing you have a problem & admitting to it is the first step Diving inward to see where the problem is stemming from is next Try writing down all of your thoughts around exercise Which ones aren’t serving you? . What feelings are causing you to have those thoughts? . HONESTY IS KEY 2. Schedule Set Times For R&R Rest days are just as important as training days & should be treated as such Schedule a few hours each day to relax And AT LEAST 1 day a week to rest completely Make these times non-negotiable They’re necessary for restoring your physical & mental health! . 3. Start a Hobby or Pick Up an Old One Instead of focusing all your time & energy on exercise Make time for non-movement activities that bring you joy When’s the last time you picked up a guitar or a book? . Always wanted to try a painting or cooking class? . Now’s the time to sign up! . 4.Surround Yourself With Good Company & HAVE FUN Instead of isolating yourself & spending all your time at the gym Get some friends together & go bowling, on a hike or to the movies Focus on making memories rather than #makinggainz 5. Cut Back I know, I know... not what you want to hear This one is hard, but necessary Try cutting back on the amount of time you work out each day And then focus on increasing the # of rest days you take Fill the extra time you have with things from tips 3 & 4! . . Exercise should be FUN A SMALL part of your life Not an obligation that takes up all of your time . It should be a way of showing your body love Not a way to punish or manipulate it . You shouldn't workout because you feel like you HAVE to Or because you're afraid of what might happen if you stop . If you don't enjoy what you're doing And it's leaving you feeling anxious, stressed or drained Then it's doing more harm than good . From April to December, I went from a little over 200, to 175.
