I think the actor Vicky Myers looked great. However, do you have any insight on how Corrie got Lisa looking so zombie-like the morning of her hangover? I'm positive just a lack of eye shadow and brow tint and mascara on camera (especially next to television-makeup Carla Connor) would look "hungover" AND Vicky was acting. But, is that all? Betsy was very right, Lisa looked like a zombie.
Not sure I’m the best to answer this but really the thing to remember about tv production is EVERYTHING you see is constructed in some way.
Everything is fake, the walls of sets move around and fit back together, plants are fake, dishes are fake, sunlight is fake (or enhanced), sounds are added in later - like that vaccum sound is added in after the fact. There’s a department for everything.
And the makeup department is a highly skilled machine of epic talent. Everything is shot in HD, so actors are wearing a shit ton of makeup at all times even when it looks like they are bare faced. Add to the fact Lisa still has slight facial bruising apparent from Corriedale. She’s got a full face of super thick makeup on it just doesn’t look like she does. It’s base makeup + bruising makeup + hangover makeup. It takes time to put on, and time to take off correctly as well.
There are soooo many people working on things you wouldn’t imagine on a tv show. Even if you think something is simple, it’s been planned, practiced, and executed by a whole team of professionals - not all listed in the credits either! It is the department heads that get screen credits.
Anyway, hope that helped. Just please keep in mind - EVERYTHING you see is written, it is planned out by several teams working together from wardrobe to props to set decoration. Nothing is by chance, and actors show up, get dressed by experts, get makeup done by experts, are directed in scenes by experts, and do the job of saying the lines written for them by experts. And it’s alllll gotta be approved by producers and showrunners.
So that’s all actors do. Yes, it’s a huge thing they do - Acting is a craft, there is no doubt! But they could not perform like they do without this invisible team behind them creating everything in the make believe world they need to act within.
And what makes Corrie even more intense is the pace they work! They don’t get days and days to shoot scenes - they get a few takes and that’s it! It’s go go go! So the quality Coronation Street puts out is pretty incredible. And those that make it happen are largely unknown and unsung.
Such a long ramble to answer that but yeah…It’s very well done professional makeup.
