we as a society have failed if fanfiction sites are not brimming with maitlands (1988) content. adam and barbara small town cozy romcom before the events of the movie. adam and barbara enjoying new life after the events of the movie. adam barbara adam barbara the possibilities are endless….the glimpses of their domestic bliss the movie gives are not enough that was only scratching the surface. if they are too boring for you maybe you just don’t believe in true love.

If they use the usually logic of ghost’s having unfinished business, do you think they’ll say the Maitland’s moved on cause they finished that business?
It’s hinted in the movie and the musical (which spells it out) that they had tried for a baby many times before they died.
Lydia would fill that role as they help raise her with her father and stepmother at the end of the movie.
This could very well fill that unfinished business of having wanted a child and when Lydia came of age they were at peace.
It may just be mentioned in passing and not dived into, but that’s my theory at this point.
