one example is with my mom's car, it was running abnormally loud and low-power. luckily, the issue was very worn out oil and a bad air filter. but if we were to ignore it, it would begin to wreck the engine and probably would've needed a whole new engine if it hadn't been addressed as quickly as it did.

whenever your car makes weird noises, is low-power, or other out-of-the-ordinary condition, check it. ignorance will only make things worse.

I understand that not a lot of people can afford it, so I'd recommend befriending a mechanic or finding somebody who would diagnose it for free. auto part stores usually will, and from there, research the issue, find out if you're eligible for a recall. there are millions of recalls unaddressed and usually you're legally obligated to get it fixed for free by the manufacturer. NHTSA's website is an excellent resource for this.
