Red’s Eats, Wiscasset Maine When you think of lobster you think of Maine! When I think about lobster rolls I think of Red’s Eats in Wiscasset. Past Portland Maine and right before Booth Bay Harbor is the town of Wiscasset. It is a cute town with many shops and lobster shacks along the river. Red’s is the most famous restaurant on Route 1 in Maine. Red’s Eats offers more than just lobster rolls and seafood, you can also get burgers, hot dogs and chicken, it really is a great place for the whole family. It has won many awards for the best lobster shack in Maine as well as Maine’s #1 lobster roll. From the outside it looks like a little food stand that would not be anything impressive, but once you wait in the hour line for your lobster roll you will understand why many people come to this little town. I have been searching for the best lobster roll and I think I found that at Red’s Eats! The lobster roll was nothing like I have ever tasted before. The picture above doesn’t do the roll justice. They even call their lobster roll the “Roll of Fame.” There was over 1 ½ or 2 pounds of lobster meat on the roll, it was over flowing the roll. The lobster was fresh and it was served on a buttery grilled roll. The thing I liked most about the roll was that there was no butter, mayo or lettuce on the roll, it was just the lobster meat. The buttery roll added a great butter flavor to the lobster when you bit into it. On the side of the roll they give you the butter and mayo, just in case you want to dip your lobster in either. You have to eat this lobster roll with a fork at first, with the meat overflowing the roll it is hard to take a bite. I did dip some of the lobster meat into the butter but you don’t have to if you don’t want to because the lobster meat is so fresh. I am very impressed with this lobster roll, and I can see how it has won so many awards. Based on presentation and taste of the Red’s Eats lobster roll I would rate this roll a 10 out of 10.
