when we think of healing, we think of gentle, nurturing actions. being gentle, taking it slow, being cared for and cared about. but neither maid nor sylph do any of that. the healers in canon are all specifically extremely violent. kanaya is a nurturer, yes, but this is instead because of her connection to the space aspect, and she is also a warrior who kills multiple people with a fair amount of ease. aradia takes gleeful joy in destroying timelines and watching the fabric of paradox space be ripped apart. aranea attempts to stage a violent coup on reality itself, and breaks jake's mind with her powers. jane kills karkat just to violently rip him from the grave, purely as a show of what she's capable of. this is not gentle shit. it's violence.

i think this speaks a lot to the kind of environment that skaia cultivates. where "healing" cannot truly be healing. they don't have the time for that. they have to play the game. they have to fight enemies, they have to breed the genesis frog, and fight the king, and everything else that comes with playing. they do not have time for healing. this goes for mental healing, too. none of the characters ever have any time to process trauma because they always have to just keep moving. keep progressing. they have to win. this is, of course, just working as designed. take young, impressionable kids, turn them into weapons, irreparably traumatize them, and dump them out on the other side as soon as their purpose creating a new universe is complete.

Hey there! sorry for not responding, i forget this blog quite too often.

Alright, let's gather my binary-decoding helmet.

Maids are Passive classes that parallel Heirs. While me and my friend only recently knew about this and we are still not too sure of the "verb" that Maids share with Heirs, we are still pretty confident on what we came up with.

Maids, just like Heirs, possess the primary function and goal to Become One with their Aspect, albeit in a different way than the Heir does. Maids are often entrusted with a extremely important role relating to their Aspect (Aradia keeping track to make sure the timeline doesn't doom itself, Jane inheriting her family's business and [assumed] role of bringing Life to the dead lands of her session, and Porrim with her breeding duties), but they are often tempted to follow and behave like their opposite Aspect. Maids are entrusted to keep the Aspect safe for the group to use, as they are dependant on the group's success to win.

Heart represents the embodiment of Feeling. It is the emotional landscape of people, what irrational impulses influences them, what makes them the way they are.

The Maids's problem is that - at the time of their session - they are rendered unable to act like their main Aspect due to something external that's preventing them to use it properly, which in turn makes them act more similarly to their opposite Aspect. Since Aradia was dead at the beginning, she acted cold and distant to everyone. Doesn't this sound like a description of Space to you? It sure does, and it's not the only example i got. Jane quite literally turns herself to Doom letting the Condesce control her through the Tiaratop, preventing her from properly reaching Life. Same goes to Porrim, although with her the interpretation is a bit more stretchy.

With that in mind, the Maid of Heart would be someone that is entrusted with something important involving Heart but it's not currently able to fully use it because of an obstacle that's preventing them from doing so. Maybe this Maid is aiming to be a psychologist, wanting to help others with their emotional struggles, but due to a recent tragedy that happened with her, she's currently feeling unable to express sympathy and understanding the way she really wanted to, etc.

For the powers i believe that since they (probably) share the verb with Heirs of Becoming their Aspect, my guess is that they can control how their Aspect flows outside of them. Aradia freezes Jack in time, and Jane makes Life flow from her footsteps as soon as she gets the Trickster Mode. Maybe this Maid could make Emotions flow from her, affecting directly anything that comes in contact with her, or even giving "life" to inanimate objects by infusing them with Souls.

oh fuuuuckkkk yessss.

maids of doom are cool as shit. doom is a bit of a death-related aspect (more like inevitable fate than anything, but death nonetheless), and maids fix/ repair/ clean up their aspect. so in much the same way that jane goes around ensuring life in the narrative, a maid of doom ensures death remains in the narrative. which is metal as hell.

by far one of my favorite classpects. of course, one of my favorite characters of all time is a maid of doom, so i might be biased, but the general idea of someone healing the general idea of death? cool shit.

hey, youre all good, no worries!! im not the designer, but ive run on the assumption that all the classes (and aspects) are roughly the middle of a venn diagram; kind of their own thing, but as the nature of combined classpects, combined!

i think victim was chosen because both heirs and mages have the tendency to have to suffer in their lives, especially when reaching their god tiers. mages more so than heirs, but i think the naming scheme for all of the combined classpects are really cleverly chosen :) i basically have the aspects and their combined parts memorized by name now LMAO i would think of victim as being less of a victim of a crime and more so like. victim of circumstance; not really anyone's fault that they're suffering, but having to go through really rough patches nonetheless.
