You stare at Ilsa in shock, your finger still squeezed around the trigger of your gun that you had defensively whipped out. Ilsa sighs, putting away her gun as the two of you stare at the Syndicate agent she had just shot.
“Ilsa...” you finally speak, your voice croaky as you look up at her. “What did you just do?”
Ilsa meets your gaze, her eyes glazing over as you can see no remorse in her expression. The two of you had met up so she could give you information regarding the Syndicate to report back to MI6, but had been caught by a Syndicate agent who was following her. Not even bothering to negotiate with him, Ilsa shot him dead before he could react. Putting her gun away, she straightens her coat as she replies, “I did what I had to do.”
You gulp, running your hands through your hair. You finally lower your gun, shaking your head as you ask, “So what do we do?”
Ilsa glances around, her eyes scanning the darkened streets. It’s the middle of the night, in a quiet part of the city where the two of you hoped to get some privacy for your secret meeting. Turning to you, her tone is laced with urgency as she says, “You have to go. More will be come. I’ll deal with this.”
She gestures to the body, but you shake your head. “Absolutely not. I am not leaving you behind. How on Earth are you going to explain this? If the Syndicate finds out about your ties to MI6, they’ll kill you.”
Ilsa smiles slightly at your concern, and she takes a step closer to you. “Trust me, y/n, right now, it’s more dangerous for you than it is for me. You need to leave.”
You stare at her, not wanting to relent, but you let out a heavy sigh as Ilsa raises an eyebrow at you, indicating that this is no longer up for debate. You nod, and Ilsa turns, but you quickly grab her arm before she disappears, “Promise me you’ll be okay?”
She reaches out, placing her hand over yours. “I promise.”
The two of you exchange soft smiles before you sadly pull away from her, turning to retreat into the night, hoping that it won’t be long before you run into her again.
