Maharaja (2024)
This movie is an insanely gritty thriller!!
It masterfully utilises non-linear storytelling to introduce the audience to a seemingly meek barber, only to slowly reveal his situation, his hidden agenda, and his vicious anger.
You will be confused at first. You will wonder why the hell he is doing all of this over a trivial ass dustbin. And then you will watch the shocking plot twist....and then you will go on to cheer him on as he slices, dices and beheads.
By the end of the film, you realise he has manipulated everybody and twisted the details to protect his loved one and will do anything to keep it that way. It's just so *chef's kiss*
That final scene with the blood filling the footprint is just so cinematic and meaningful, especially if you understand the context behind it.
Excellent film. Loved it!

For all fans of the motion picture 'Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom', here is a shot of actor Raj Singh as the Maharaja Zalim Singh. Now, many viewers - including myself - had the idea that the Maharaja was actually female; indeed, his facial features were soft enough - and worthy enough - to recast him as a Princess with the given name Sadhvi. In the mine scenes after Short Round breaks the spell of Kali, Zalim would fight his way back into the Palace to summon Captain Blumburtt's troops....but as Princess Sadhvi she'd know that her effort could be fatal to her, so for her own survival she must join Shorty in the escape. That puts both of them on equal footing in a way that the movie never fully explores, and the Maharaja invites you to comment on this blog to discuss improvements to the movie and/or expanding the story.
