I can attest to this phenomenon. When P5R released and trailers shifted focus from Joker to Kasumi, I felt this inexplicable irritation with her, for taking away the spotlight from him. Even though I like her archetype and most of what was previewed about her. I was so confused with that instinctive reflex that I was feeling.

I doubt I have a right to judge Gojo since I didn't watch all of JJK. But I think it says something, that I dropped JJK altogether. Despite how much I loved Gojo (and Itadori), he still wasn't enough to keep me watching.
