A young girl walked slowly down the hallway at her high school. She tossed her golden curls over her shoulder and her bright blue eyes sparkled. The whole world just had a sort of magical, mystical feel to it. The golden-red maple leaves outside littered the grass outside the school and the deep blue sky was scattered with fluffy cotton ball clouds. As the girl continued down the hall, she noticed a mirror hanging on the wall where there had not been one before. It had a beautiful golden frame, intricately carved with strange symbols and creatures. Her heartbeat quickened, though she knew not why, as she leaned in closer to the mirror. Suddenly she saw in the reflection a beautiful butterfly flutter past her head. When she turned to look at it, there was nothing there! She looked in the mirror again, and the butterfly was gone. She felt a soft breeze caress her cheek, but then remembered that there were no windows open. Her eyes widened as an incredible thought occurred to her. She had heard of magic mirrors before, that showed things not seen and when a being destined to be part of some divine quest or tale touched the mirror, they were drawn in and the mirror disappeared until it was time for them to return to their former world. Her eyes widened more as the mere possibility of it dawned on her and her heart pounded against her ribs. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and slowly placed her fingertips on the smooth glass of the magical portal. Her body surged and she felt that she was falling. When she opened her eyes, preparing herself for whatever strange things she might see…
