Apex Predator of Patagonia by David & Shiela Glatz Via Flickr: She went over the hill like it was a small fence. When she hit the ground she noticed the humans at the foot of the hill. Bold and confident, the wild Puma (Puma concolor) didn’t retreat. She didn’t hide. She strutted right past us with her head held high. Down here the Puma is the apex predator. With no competition from bears, wolves or jaguars - the primary competition faced by this species in the other portions of its range - the Patagonian Puma can be viewed in the open and in the daylight.at least in the protected areas like the national parks.
this is my first proper art of my own anthro characters in probably around 2 years, mostly since i havent been very happy with my anthro characters, though i decided to draw this because this character, twiddle, recently turned five years old! yeah, five years ago on august 31, 2019, i drew twiddle for the first time, though he had a different colour scheme at the time
now, the ironic part about this is that another one of my characters, woolly, actually turns two years old today (i first drew him on september 5, 2022), so really i should be sketching up something for woolly right now. hopefully maybe i can draw something up before midnight my time for him
anyway, this picture takes place in puntas arenas, the capital of magallanes, chiles southernmost, largest, and second least populated region! id imagine its also the coldest. yeah, i sometimes forget that the areas near the south pole can get just as cold as the ones near the north this is also one of the first times ive drawn the night time and one of the first times ive drawn snow. lots of firsts today!
